New music In the North West June 2025
The inaugural ‘New Music in the North West‘ programme was a resounding success. Compositions that were both high-level and musically thought out by four composers were selected from a total of eleven applications. The successful composers were: Rob Hughes, Peter Griffin, Isabelle Ryder and Felix Do.
Following selection, the compositions were workshopped and developed by the composers in collaboration with The Victoria String Quartet, with individual mentoring provided by Alice Beckwith. A second workshop took place a week or so later, with the refined compositions performed again by The Victoria String Quartet. A recording of each composition was made and given to the individual composers.
