Manchester Midday Music

Welcome...

to our 2026-27 Concert Season

We are thrilled to announce our 2026-27 concert season, which is now on sale. The season features an incredible mix of local, national and international artists, ranging from those just emerging onto the chamber music scene, through award winners, to established world-famous artists. We guarantee a unique, exciting and engaging concert experience.

We are particularly delighted to welcome world-class pianist Hyung-Ki Joo to perform at the Middays. As a pianist, composer, and creative force, his contagious stage presence is bound to make for an exciting concert. We can’t think of anyone better to celebrate the Bridgewater Hall’s 30th Anniversary Season.

This year is also one for home-grown talent, as Greater Manchester has provided a quarter of our programme. We welcome back the ever-popular Scott Brothers Duo, as well as A4 Brass, who were particularly well received at their last Midday concert. New to the Middays is pianist Callum McLachlan from Stockport, who was recently named as a 2026 artist for the Young Classical Artists Trust. Trio Kagura met whilst they were studying in Manchester and unite musicians from Japan, Lithuania, and New Zealand.

For International Women’s Day on 8 May 2027, we are celebrating with Dutch cellist and singer, Hadewych van Gent. She creates a distinctive and original sound world and we’re sure you’ll be captivated by her performance. Other artists showing us the power of women in chamber music include singer Joanna Harries, who will be accompanied by Aleksandra Myslek; American violinist, Esther Yang; and prize winning pianist Mabelle Young-Eun Park.

We continue to provide an opportunity for winners of the Terence Judd-Hallé Award to perform a concert of chamber music on The Bridgewater Hall’s stage. This year’s award went to Lukas Sternath and his concert will take place in March 2027. We also welcome 2023’s winner, Tom Borrow in September, and 2025’s winner, Julius Asal, in February 2027.

Our annual auditions continue to provide a wide range of excellent musicians, with over 60% of artists chosen for this year’s series applying through this process. This includes Lumas Winds, winners of the 71st Royal Over-Seas League Mixed Ensemble Prize and Kirckman Concert Society Artists. Joining us in January 2027 George Robarts is a baritone with an exciting future ahead. He’ll be joined by some of his musical friends to present a cabaret-style performance of songs from 1920s Berlin.

Trumpet player Sasha Canter was the winner of the Brass Category final of the 2022 BBC Young Musician competition and is in demand as a soloist and recitalist. For his 2027 concert, he will be joined by rising pianist Rustam Khanmurzin. A dynamic vocal consort, The Lyons Mouth, will present Winged Voices, a programme of choral works interspersed with poetic readings.

Drawing the season to a close will be A-Delta Trio, saxophonists from Basel, Switzerland. Their programme will bring a delightful mix of contemporary and classical chamber music to the Bridgewater Hall stage.

We know that you, our audience, put your trust in us to provide a high quality programme and I’m sure that this year won’t disappoint. You can check out our full season of concerts here.

We look forward to welcoming you to a Midday concert soon.
